RICH BAKED APPLES

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 45 minutes
Ready In: 1 hours
Accommodates: PHASE 1

I just never get tired of a warm, spice enhanced fruit dish.  These apples always make a perfect end to family or friend dinners no matter the season. The almond butter gives them a rich decadence making a single serving a difficult task.

INGREDIENTS
  • 6 large honeycrisp apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/3 cup honey (maple syrup for vegan)
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat the oven for 375 degrees.
  2. Place the prepared apples in a large casserole dish.
  3. In a small pot over medium heat place the honey and warm until very runny. Remove from heat and whisk together the remaining ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the apples and toss to coat.
  4. Place in the oven for 45 minutes tossing the apples halfway through the bake time. Serve warm.
